The police are a vested pillar of our society who serve and protect.... Yeah right! My actual view on the police is that they have very much lost their way in today's society. When sir Robert Peel set them up the intention was for ordinary people to protect the laws of the land by arresting the nutters and law breakers. Today we have a force that is heavily involved in diversity training, liberal, tree hugging, invasive policing where they spend 90% of their time filling in paper work and very little to combat crime. Yes I have a very dim view of policing in the uk. My uncle and one of my friends are both in the "force" - which appears to resemble a little club of arse holes. In my life I have tried as much as possible to avoid them, in the few instances I have had to deal with them I have found them to be useless arse holes - bit like my friend and uncle! When I had my motorbike accident - which we believe was a hit and run (although my memory of the event is non existent), the police arrived and took some photographs. They determined that there was no evidence that a hit and run had taken place other than I had written off my bike and was badly injured - and a twat who overtook my friends at high speed moments after I hit the road. My dad has similar views to me, although his are somewhat deeper - after all he was in the 1984 miners strike and did get photographed covered in blood in the local rag after being beaten up by the police - yes maggie thatcher won lots of favour in Yorkshire that year! So it may surprise you that 18 months ago I applied to be a special constable - yes this was me trying to find things to fill my time that would bring meaning to my life and offer something back to society - a noble gesture but completely ruined. After passing all the silly little tests which ensure you can spell and spot the obvious - I was told that I was in pending checks on employers, security checks and medical. I wasn't sure it was the right thing to do but it seemed to make me happy - well this was until Hertfordshire police wrote to me explaining that I couldn't join and they couldn't inform me why. After chasing they revealed it was due to employer checks. This surprised me as I have always been a model employee - or thought I had. I chased the police down the legal route to reveal the info and after 18 months have run out of options, they won't reveal the employer - although I can guess! What's worse is I cannot apply to another force for upto 5 years from the bad reference! So now my hatred for the police is even worse - well maybe I should clarify this - I don't hate the individual officers, well ok maybe the guy who gave me a ticket for using my mobile phone whilst I was stationary with hand break on and hadn't moved for about 40 mins! Individually there are probably good ones and bad ones, collectively they belong to a broken part of our societies protection system that is led by the government and influenced by liberal tree hugging inclusive monkeys who haven't seen the arsenals of crime and live in ivory towers. A good book to read if you want to see this for yourself is "wasting police time" by PC Dave Copperfield. :)
