Meaning of Friends?

Well the first question is what does real friendship mean to me?
- Someone who is there for you through thick and thin.
- Wants to be with you and spend time with you, without a reason.
- Offers advice and help.
- Someone who you can call and speak to, who wont bounce your calls and will make time to listen.
- Share your inner world and secrets with.
- Have a laugh with, go for a beer, and chill.
- Someone just to be with to break the boredom of life!
We have different friends for different parts of our lives. Transient friends who are there for a part of your life then you drift away.... and the geat friends who are life friends.... but these are few and far between.
If im honest I stuggle to make friends, it was very easy at uni as we were all pushed into the same scenario and were forced to make new friends and bond with each other. But in general throughout life this is not the case.
I have recently moved from the north to the south, left my friends, family, house and come down to a place where I know no one at all... the reasons.... well they are complex but in a nutshell running away and the offer of a dream job. If I am honest I have found it hard, very hard, but its only recently I have started to make the effort to actually make friends. Its going to be a slow process but think will help me develop.
Work is not the right place to meet friends as many of the staff commute to the office so not many live locally. The gay websites seem to be my favoured place to meet people, although people have the preconception that if you are meeting them from a gay site they want to be in your pants. Some have overcome that, others try hard to get me in the sack. Any suggestions on how to make friends would be good! Im thinking of joining some clubs see if that helps.
Cest la vie!
