Well as you can possibly see from the title, I eventually went to see Billy Elliot at the theatre. What can I say, this is the best thing I have ever seen at the theatre. It was my very last day at my old job, I handed in my key card, gave my boss a cuddle (definitely making him feel uncomfortable but I didn't care) and left the car park to try and get tithe theatre on time. Now I don't know if any of you have used first capital disconnect, but let's just say no matter how much spare time you build into the equation to get anywhere they will pretty much always bugger you up. So with three minutes to spare I arrived at the theatre, sat in the stall seats and got ready for a great production. Yes I pretty much cried from start to finish, not sure why. Probably cause I'm a soft bastard, or maybe the emotions of leaving my job, and that the story reminds me too much of my childhood? - less the ballet!
The night before had been my leaving do, this event was brilliant, some really great people came, in fact people I didn't think would come actually turned up! Just goes to show I was maybe more popular than I realised? Or the prospect of drinking makes any man venture to these type of events! I spent the night talking shop, although I probably shouldn't have!
So now a week into the new job, so far I have had three days diversity training (anyone would think I'm working in the public sector) so I now know you have to treat everyone the same and if they are crap at their job you have to offer support and do their job for them.... Well that's what it sounded like! 66 people were on my course, 40% women, 65% foreign? Positive discrimination I'm told?
When I took the job I didn't realise that once I had gone through the process I would have to do it again for every single project I want to join! So now I'm in situation where I have to look through the system and apply for jobs... Of course I'm not complaining, this is one of the best companies in the world - so they keep telling us, I'm sure it's one of those if you say it enough times it might be true!
Oh and yes I have now turned into a twat apparently! This is what happens when you go work for a big outsource company that's greedy and earns way too much money, we turn into twats. So here's to being a twat, I'm going back to my hour long commute to work to a desk I don't have in an office I'm not based in, to a job I don't have yet. At least I have Billy Elliot to cheer me up and remind mr things are pretty good. :)
